Defining Network elements

A Network element represents the IP address space of a complete network or subnetwork.

On the Network element’s NAT tab, you can view or edit the NAT definitions for the NAT configuration in which the element is included. However, you primarily configure NAT definitions in the properties of a Firewall engine.

Use this dialog box configure networks. A Network element represents the IP address space of a complete network or subnetwork.

Option Definition
General tab
Name Specifies the element name.
Resolve Automatically resolves the IP address of the host.
IPv4 Address

(Optional)

Single IPv4 address. You can enter either one or both addresses.

Either an IPv4 or IPv6 address is mandatory.

IPv4 Netmask

(Optional)

A valid IPv4 netmask.
IPv6 Address

(Optional)

Single IPv6 address. You can enter either one or both addresses.

Either an IPv4 or IPv6 address is mandatory.

Prefix Length Check the automatically filled-in Prefix Length and adjust it if necessary by entering a value between 0–128.

Category

(Optional)

Allows you to flexibly filter your Management Client view.
Select Opens the Category Selection dialog box.
Comment

(Optional)

Specifies useful information to administrators.
Broadcast and network addresses included Includes the broadcast address and the network address in the definition.

The Broadcast and network addresses included option is only used in the Source and Destination cells in rules

In other uses, the broadcast and network addresses are always included in the definition regardless of this option.

NAT tab
Firewall Shows the selected firewall.
NAT Type Shows the NAT translation type: Static or Dynamic.
Private IP Address Shows the Private IP Address.
Public IP Address Shows the defined Public IP Address.
Port Filter Shows the selected Port Filters.
Comment An optional comment for your own reference.
Add NAT Definition Opens the NAT Definition Properties dialog box.
Edit NAT Definition Opens the NAT Definition Properties dialog box for the selected definition.
Remove NAT Definition Removes the NAT definition from the engine properties.
