Create Service Group elements
Grouping several Service elements into Service Group elements simplifies your policies.
You can use the Service Group element in your policies instead of several individual Service elements. You can group both default Service elements and custom Service elements.

Steps
- Select Configuration.
- Expand the Other Elements tree.

Right-click the Services or (IPS only) Ethernet Services branch according to the type of service you want to create and select one of the following:
- to create a Service Group under the branch for the selected type of services (for example, TCP).
- to create the Service Group under the Group branch (item not available if you right-clicked Ethernet Services).
- In the Name field, enter a unique name for the Service Group.
- From the list on the left, select the Service elements that you want to include in the group and click Add.
- Click OK.
Service Group Properties dialog box
Use this dialog box to configure a Service Group.
Option | Definition |
---|---|
Protocol | Displays the Service Group protocol. |
Name | Specifies the Service Group name. |
Comment | An optional comment for your own reference. |
Category | Shows the assigned category. |
Select | Opens the Category Selection for New Element dialog box. |
Resources | Contains elements that can be added to the Service Group. |
Search | Opens a search field for the selected element list. |
Up (Backspace) | Returns to the previous folder. |

Add | Adds the selected resources to the Content list. |
Remove | Removes the selected resources from the Content list. |
Content | Shows the Services that have been added to the Service Group. |
Ethernet Service Group Properties dialog box
Use this dialog box to define Ethernet Service Group properties.
